In the early 1980s, Michael visited Bermuda for a getaway. Known for his reclusive nature, he often donned disguises to go out unnoticed. During one of his outings, he wore a baseball cap and sunglasses to blend in while strolling through a local market.
While Michael was browsing through the stalls, he decided to buy some souvenirs. The stall owner, recognizing him despite the disguise, chuckled and said, “You look just like Michael Jackson!” To which Michael, playing along and choosing to keep his identity a secret, replied, “Yeah, but he’s much better looking.”
The stall owner laughed but wasn’t convinced and insisted that he’d take a photo with him, thinking he was joking. Michael humorously agreed but had to keep his head down so the people around wouldn’t notice.
As they posed for a photo, a group of tourists noticed the commotion and began to gather, causing a ripple of excitement. Sensing the growing crowd, Michael quickly dodged away, saying, “You all have a great day!” before disappearing into the vibrant Bermuda streets.
This encounter has since become a delightful folktale among locals, showcasing not only Michael’s legendary status but also his playful spirit and ability to lightheartedly engage with fans, even when trying to enjoy some privacy.
